My elbow still has no pain (woohoo!). My wrist and thumb do a little if I overdo it (like I did Saturday night knitting this sock). But stretching pretty much takes care of that too.
Next up? I’m thinking of knitting a shawl so I have something to enter into the fair in September. Current possibility is a Flower Basket Shawl with some of the Buffalo Gold yarn I have.

I entered some knitting in the Harvest Home Fair again this year. Again, there were just 2 categories for knitting. Knitted Baby Garments and Knitting Other.
I didn’t have any baby garments to enter this year, so it was just the Other category.
I entered the Arctic Diamonds Stole, and 3 pairs of socks: Monkeys, Embossed Leaves, and Hedera.
I figured the stole was a contender for first place (since I won first with the Lacy Lattice Stole last year). I thought maybe the Embossed Leaves socks might have a chance of placing a ribbon too…I think they’re quite pretty.
But it was the Hedera socks that won a ribbon! I think it’s funny because I only knit these because I had finished my other sock projects when we were in Florida on vacation, and had enough of the blue yarn left to knit them.
Oh, and the shawl?
First of course! (And $10, which I forgot to include in the photo, the horror. ;) )
I’m 3 for 3 now in the Knitting Other category.
I think I’ve discovered the secret. Lace. The judges obviously eat it up! All of my projects that have won ribbons in all 3 years have had some sort of lace aspect.
The projects that took 3rd and the Honorable Mention were honestly much more complicated projects. 3rd place was an intarsia ladybug blanket, and the honorable mention (which may have been in the baby garments category) was a dress knit probably on size 2 needles with a nearly-fingering-weight yarn. And ruffles. The girl who knit both of those items said the dress was “a labor of love.” Both of those items were way more complicated than mine? But no holes. The judges apparently love holes.

After knitting only a few rows Friday night, nothing yesterday, then knitting every free (and not-so-free) second today, the Arctic Diamonds Stole is done!
It’s currently blocking. I managed to stretch it out to 21″ wide by 60″ long. Exactly what I wanted!

People I have fantastic news!
This

is the shawl in it’s current state, with the 5 pattern repeats designated by the pattern.
I had been figuring that I’d need to knit 6 to get the shawl to be the 5-foot length that I wanted (the pattern states that it is 48″ long).
But I wanted to know for sure, because who wants to knit 64 extra rows if they don’t have to? So I blocked it last night to see just how far it would stretch at this point.
And, at the 5-repeat point, the shawl is about 52 inches long. So, that means I don’t need to do the extra repeat!
448 rows – 64 rows = 384 total rows
384 rows – 343 rows complete = 41 rows to go
89% done
I should have it done by this weekend. And then have time to knit some dishcloths for the groom. :)
