My mom emailed me about a month ago with a “hint” about a gift for Mother’s Day.
She sent me this.
Cute idea, right? She wanted the Large size.
But expensive.
But I know how to do the same thing for much cheaper!
Take one picture drawn by me (with Emily telling me what to draw) and colored in by Emily.
Scan it.
Print out on iron-on-transfer paper.
Iron on bags!
Blue for Kevin’s mom (she requested the medium size–but she doesn’t know about these at all), red for mine.
My friend is getting married later this month. Naturally, I have to knit some of her gifts.
I took her wedding invitation, knit one of the Lace Photo Mat patterns from Handknit Holidays, and framed it. I plan on doing the same later this year with my Kevin’s brothers’ wedding invitations (one as a wedding gift, one as a first anniversary gift).
I chose the blue yarn for 2 reasons. 1) because it is one of her wedding colors, and 2) because it was the only appropriately-sized solid yarn in my stash. :)
I think a gold or ivory yarn might have shown the lace and leaf pattern better, but we use what we have.

Easy project: Simple lace pattern, knits up quickly.
Then why did it take me until the very last corner to realize that I did the corners backwards? (The garter-stitch straight edge side should be on the outside edge, not the inside edge.)
At least it only took a couple of hours to rip out the corners and reknit them the correct way, including the final corner.
