KR Secret Pals

You post someone else’s projects!

My KR Secret Pal giftee, Karen, is (sadly) blogless. She is expecting her first child (thinking it’s a girl) any minute now! She sent me photos of a couple of projects for her little one to come home in, and is allowing me to post them.

A cute little outfit:

A beautiful blanket:

Karen offers the following pattern information about the layette: The pattern was a Lion Brand pattern that was free on their website for a baby layette. Except for the pants which I got from Knitty.com this summer or spring.

As part of one of her SP gifts, I made Karen’s little one a pumpkin hat, since her due date is Halloween. I foolishly forgot to take a photo of the cute little hat before I sent it off, so I hope I might get a picture of the baby wearing it soon!

Secret Pal gifts: The Finale

by Natalie on 6/7/2005

in Crafting, Knitting

Minnie, my Knitter’s Review Secret Pal, sent me my final gift about a month ago. And it’s taken me this long to get around to taking a photo of all my goodies.

Some size 1 Clover bamboo DPNs, which have been put to use on a sock swatch so far, and a set of size 0 Brittany 5″ DPNs. Knitting with toothpicks you say? Nope. Toothpicks are bigger! (We checked.)

And 6 skeins of Plymouth Sunsette, in a pretty wine color. Minnie said it would be good for something for Emily, and yup, that’s what it will be used for. I’m just not sure what form it will take yet! Someday, the perfect pattern will cross my path, and I’ll be all set with the yarn!

Oh, there was chocolate in the package too, but it didn’t make it to the photo. ;)

Thanks, Minnie, you were a great secret pal!

Gifted (Well)!

by Natalie on 4/29/2005

in Crafting, Knitting

My gifting Not-so-Secret Pal, Minnie, surprised me this morning with part of my “final gift.”

$30.00 to spend at Elann.com!

Do I spend it now? Or save it for a bit?

What would you do? :)

I’ll probably spend it fairly soon. I want to buy a couple more sets of size 1 DPNs so that I can have more than one pair of socks going at a time. And I do need to find some yarn for some baby/toddler gifts. Maybe they’ll have something washable & wearable!

Thank you so much Minnie!

Of course, this is a big reminder that I need to get on the ball with my (also no longer a secret) gift-receiving secret pal, Karen (who really needs to get a blog! ;) ). I have some ideas that have been floating around in my head for awhile, I just need to get on them! Things to order, things to make. Karen, if you’re out there, if you have any suggestions of things you’ve been pondering or really want or need, please let me know!

My Secret Pal scarf is complete!

by Natalie on 2/26/2005

in Crafting, Knitting

Finished it tonight, and I love it! It didn’t turn out exactly as I had planned (I was hoping I could block it from curling so much for long enough to tack it down in the braid, but it didn’t work), but it still works just fine. Total yarn used: 3 balls of Debbie Bliss Alpaca Silk, 1 skein of Koigu Kersti. In the end, after making the fringe, there were exactly 6 inches left of the Alpaca silk!

I plan to wear it with my black leather jacket. I’ll have to track down some more of the Koigu Kersti to make some matching gloves or mittens.

Thank you Minnie again for the goods to make my new fantastic scarf!

Stash update: -1 ball of DB Alpaca Silk; 219.5 in stash

I figured out who my secret pal is, it’s Minnie.

Friday night, after we got home from the grocery store, there was a package in the door from her. It contained a very nice notebook for writing down notes on my knitting projects, a set of size 4 Brittany DPNs, and some yummy yarn.

1 ball of Katia Mohair (how did she know I had been thinking about getting some mohair all week?), 1 skein of Koigu Kersti (Yes! I have FINALLY felt some Koigu!), and 3 balls of Debbie Bliss Alpaca Silk. It is all to die for! And the yummiest colors. The Alpaca Silk color is so buttery…it reminds me of caramel popcorn.

And I figured out what I want to do with it…I’m making a scarf using all 3 yarns. I’m going to keep this project to myself for a bit though. That way if it doesn’t work out as I planned, no one will know. ;)

Stash Update: +5 balls = 241

Sophie Satisfied

by Natalie December 8, 2004 Crafting

I decided that I was happy with Sophie, and she’s blocking & drying now. Should be dry tonight, then I will be able to take a photo. I wish that the stitches were more obscured, but the fuzziness of the yarn covers up most of that (it’s really only noticeable in the lime [...]

The book, “Simple Socks: Plain and Fancy,” which I haven’t had time to really examine yet, but from my first glance, it looks great!
Size 2 Brittany DPNs, which I will never take over to Julie’s house, because they are Willow’s favorite snack.

Gift from my secret pal…

by Natalie August 14, 2004 Crafting

My secret pal sent me the pattern for Rogue! I’m so excited…I want to cast on soon, but I have to wait. Must wait for the shawl, the scarf, and the bag to be done.
Then, it’s Rogue time!
I already have my yarn, Cascade Lana D’Oro. Even though others will swear it’s not [...]

My KR Secret Pal sent me some goodies yesterday.

These will definitely come in handy while working on Madli to separate those pattern repeats and keep me on track!
Thanks, Secret Pal!
