Yeah, I’m milking these guys for more blog posts. But they’re so freaking cute anyway, I doubt anyone will complain!

And a close-up.

We went to my mom & dad’s over the weekend, and I made 2 Korknisse for them. They had 2 wine corks laying on the counter, so I stealthily knit 2 hats and 2 sweaters for them. Then I sat them up on the wine rack. It took quite awhile before they noticed the little guys hiding up there!
Of course they thought they were very cute. I think I’m going to knit some more hats and sweaters, and get some ribbon and pins together, and send them to my mom. Then she can dress up some other corks and give them to their friends for Christmas.

Emily chose these to make for her teacher’s Christmas present. She was going to help me knit them, but the small needles and DPNs were too much for her to figure out. So I just did them myself.
We need to get some ribbon to turn them into ornaments, and I might get some little bells or holly sprigs to stick on their hats to make them even CUTER than they already are (like Elliphantom did with hers).
Details:
Started: October 21, Finished: November 2, 2008
Pattern: Korknisse by Manne, translated by Saartje.
Yarn: Cascade 220 (red, yellow, green, blue, purple), KnitPicks Wool of the Andes (orange).
Needles: US2.5 Brittany Birch DPNs
I might make more of these (we have tons of corks, and I have tons of leftover worsted wools!) to give to family & friends.

What I want for Christmas is that whenever I decide to start a new project, the needles I need, in the material I need, just magically appear in my craft room.
So, when I decide to knit a pair of Fetching for my goddaughter for Christmas (just the perfect thing for stuffing cash into for a teenager, don’t you think? Plain old cash = BORING, but cash stuffed into a pair of fingerless mitts? COOL.), the size 5 DPNs I need for knitting the pattern with Cascade 220, are just there.
But not the metal ones I already own. No. I want a nice warm pair of size US5 Brittany Birch DPNS there. Just sitting in with the other DPNS, just ready to go.
I could have sworn I had some. But I guess not. I have 4s and 7s, but no 5s or 6s. And why do I have 4s and 6s? I’m pretty sure I’ve never used them.
I so enjoyed knitting this little pair of knits, and I get why they’re so popular (the #1 pattern on Ravelry). There will be more in my future–I fully expect my cousin (my goddaughter’s mother) to see hers and say “I want a pair!” so I am going to knit them up ahead of time. Then I can say “I thought you might, here.”
So, dear Santa, if you take the reindeer out on a practice run, maybe you can drop a set of 5s in my stocking?
Love,
Natalie
