we've finally come to the place where we've decided it's just easier to have the meal itself at my in-laws. their house is bigger. however, we fix a good portion of the stuff here and cart it over there, so that my MIL doesn't have to cook so much (although she loves doing it).

as for favorite dishes? it's a toss-up between candied yams (brown sugar, maple syrup and butter, yum!) and pumpkin pie with whipped cream (no cool whip forme!)

now i'm drooling

Doubt there will be a giant ham... that's usually Christmas! No, we'll likely have a giant turkey. Or two. :-P

Thanksgiving at my in-laws' house this year. I'm planning on offering to make the cranberry sauce again this year, as well as anything else that is needed (like, maybe pie, but we'll see). My favorite dish? The dressing. Definitely. Me loves the carbs!

I bet you still have more blog readers than I do!

I'm so glad we've never had to do the 2-dinners-in-one-day thing. I claimed Thanksgiving the year we got engaged as "my" holiday, and it's been at my house ever since!

This year I will be trying to decide whether to use my home grown & canned green beans for TG, or to buy some from Del Monte.

At this point, I am leaning toward hoarding the beans. ;)

I am excited about reading your posts every day!

Thanksgiving this year involves two meals, one at my parents, and one at the in-laws. We are making the pies this year for the in-laws. The Friday after, I get to catch a train to go on a yarn crawl though!

You are crazy woman! I was just about to post a comment about your post yesterday when I saw this.

First, the girls are adorabe, and I LOVE the cookie costume

Second, as I have been now for the last seven? years I am once again doing Thanksgiving. My goal this year is to spread the food detail around, and simplify the process. Having said that, I need to look for some new recipes, focusing on ones I can prep ahead of time (the day before), or those with minimal effort day of.

btw, I STILL use your green bean crockpot recipe every year. My FIL loves them.

Sometimes I wish I did all the cooking, so I could try out some new recipes. But then we wouldn't have all the yummy standbys. It's an argument with myself I just can't win.

No. Mother does all the cooking--and wouldn't have it any other way. Thanksgiving is her big cooking holiday. My sister gets Christmas. And I don't cook. :D
