The state of the blog

I’m sure you’ve all noticed, but I’m not blogging as much as I used to. I’m not really knitting any less, but most of the time, I just don’t think it’s worth posting about the 1″ of sock I knit in a day. :) And when there might be something interesting to post about – I don’t have a chance to get a photo for one reason or another. Blog posts without photos are usually pretty boring – reading and writing. Like this one. :)

An online friend said the other day that I need a non-knitting, general life blog. I replied that I don’t have time for another blog! And that I do post non-knitting stuff here sometimes.

But I got to thinking, why not post more? Sure the name of my blog is “keeping me in stitches…” but that can mean so many things. Not just knitting stitches. Not just crochet stitches. Not just sewing stitches. But also the “stitches” that my kids keep me in laughing at them, and the “stitches” that tie my family together.

So I’m going to start posting a little more about general family and household things. Especially with the holidays coming up. There will still be a lot of knitting around here, but hopefully some other topics you all will enjoy too. And hopefully there will be some fun discussion!

So, to kick it off (is anyone still reading this?), what are you or your kids doing for Halloween?

Emily wanted to be a princess – which I sort of instigated by telling her she could wear her flower girl dress as a princess dress! Now, whatever Emily does, Sam wants to do too. So 2 princesses this year. Luckily, we have Emily’s first flowergirl dress that she wore when she was 3. I tried it on Sam, and it’s of course a bit long, but taking it in a bit in the shoulders, and it’ll be perfect. I picked up 2 princess crowns in Target’s Dollar bins – Which, FYI, they had the same crowns back in the costume area for $3.99 each. The only difference was the jewels were different colors! So that was a savings of $3.00 each.

Now, all that is left is for us to NOT EAT all of the Halloween candy before the 31st, so there is something left for the Trick-or-Treaters!

we’re not going to do much this halloween. the boys are now 14 & 16, and really too big, lol. (actually, sob. no costumes to make this year! and i find i’m missing it! bring on the grandbabies!). we might go to a friend’s to bug them, but that will be it (and halloween is a friday this year, too, grumble, grumble).

i’ve hidden the candy in the closet, so hubbie won’t eat it, lol. i have my own secret chocolate stash

Yay! I’m glad I inspired you. Thankgiving is coming up you know, and you always have good recipes! hint, hint.

David is going to be a SWAT police officer for Halloween. This might be the first Halloween that he really goes around the neighborhood (well, farther than a couple houses down on either side). He seems to enjoy giving out candy more than receiving candy (go figure), so hopefully it will be a nice night to sit out on the steps with our big bowl of candy.

For Halloween, we are throwing a Sit n Knit at my place, and hoping to get started on stuff for charity for Christmas

We’ll likely just buy candy the night before and hand it out to the kiddos who stop by. I might put on my bright pink wig, just for a few laughs.

Yay! Just what I want…more information about your family! Tim is actually off and we are going to hand out candy to the neighbors. Maybe a trip to the movies to catch Saw V afterwards!
