Well, you can. But it’s supposedly not as easy as just propagating from a cutting from an already-established plant.
I didn’t know this.
Neither did my seed, apparently! It grew just fine. Granted not every seed germinated, but it’s done quite well with what did! I had to transplant it to a new pot. I’ve brought it inside for the winter, hopefully it continues to do well inside as it did outside.
It’s starting to look a little tree-like, isn’t it? I just may decorate it for Christmas. :)

i’ve actually seen rosemary “trees” decorated for christmas. at least they’re edible, lol.
Yup, I’ve seen those before too. Mine needs a little pruning to be a better tree shape. Perhaps I’ll take that into account whenever I snip some off for cooking!
Natalie, my rosemary stays outside all winter (planted in the ground) and does fine. It gets huge, and I usually prune it way back once a year. It has survived two ice storms. I believe the variety is Arp.
Mine specifically said to bring it in for the winter on the seed packet. I think it could potentially make it if it was planted in a sheltered area, but we don’t really have a good spot for that (maybe some day if I ever make a bed up against the house it could work). For now it’s OK to bring it in, it’s still pretty small. But if it gets really big next season, I may have to rethink that!
That’s amazing!
If you want to share, feel free to send some leaves my way. We’ve been going through dried rosemary like there’s no tomorrow!
I will bring you some fresh in January! And if I remember, I’ll put some in your PPPP.
Yay! I can’t wait!
