Size: 0-6 months (Will fit up to a 16″ head circumference)
Yarn: Any fingering-weight sock yarn
Needles: Size US2 (2.75mm), set of 5 DPNs (if 5 needles aren’t used, you will need 4 stitch markers)

Gauge: 7 sts/inch; Row gauge is not important

Cast on 88 stitches.
Join, being careful not to twist.

Knit even in stockinette until piece measures 5″ from cast-on edge.

Decrease round: knit to last 2 sts on needle 1. K2tog. Repeat for all 4 needles.

If not using set of 5 DPNs: Place markers after every 22nd stitch. Then knit to last 2 stitches before marker, K2tog. Repeat for whole round. (Knit 20, K2tog, K20, K2tog, Knit 20, K2tog, Knit 20, K2tog). 84 stitches remain.

Knit 2 rounds even.

Repeat decrease round and 2 even rounds until you have 4 stitches remaining. Place all 4 stitches on one needle and knit I-cord for 4 inches, or until desired. Bind off and weave in ends.

Tie two knots in the end of the I-cord (symbolizing the twins these hats were originally knit for!).
